Searching for Sugarman // Documentary

***************

If you haven't seen Searching for Sugarman you have to do yourself a favour and watch it asap.
The documentary tells the story about an American singer-song-writer that becomes not only famous in South Africa but also forbidden during apartheid (with the songs "I wonder" and "Sugar Man"), but unheard of in his own country, the U.S..

And so what... nothing new in that, you might think.
Perhaps not, but what makes this story amazing is the artist Rodriguez himself. His personality, his humility and his indisputable talent for jotting words down and making unforgettable music out of those few, but precise words.

My first reaction when hearing Rodriguez' songs in the documentary was that he reminds me of Bob Dylan and that he's actually a bit better than Bob Dylan.
